"Love U, Teresa" is a Broadway-style musical play commemorates late Taiwan singer Teresa Teng (1953-1995). The musical is about Teng in heaven helping young musician Zhou Mengjun to pursue her dream with her music. The musical uses the simple values of love and loyalty celebrated in Teng’s songs. More than 30 of Teng’s greatest hits sung by two actresses who play Teng, including “I Only Care About You,” “The Long Road of Life” and “The Moon Represents My Heart.” The musical made its debut in Hong Kong in 2010 and was well-received. A seasoned creative team is responsible for the production. Several musical veterans, including director Joey McKneely (who worked on the revival of “West Side Story” in New York) and Daryl Waters (who won a Tony award for his orchestration of the music for “Memphis,” also on Broadway), have thrown their talent behind Li Dun, the mainland producer who steered “Butterflies".
Teresa´s songs have accompanied us all the way from being young girls till now. Her songs are a part of our lives.
In the early 1980s, I found my students listening to Teresa´s songs on a tape recorder. They are really nice songs. Later I became her fan.
I´m older than Teresa. When she became popular, I began to listen to her songs.
Teresa Teng was a hugely popular singer from Taiwan who passed away in 1995. She remains the highest selling Asian artist of all time with over 100 million records sold. It’s been said that “Wherever there are Chinese people, the songs of Teresa Teng can be heard.”
